Best Giantex Portable Washing Machine 2026: Twin Tub or Fully Automatic?

Last updated October 31, 2026

The Giantex EP23113 is the pick for most people: a fully automatic 12 lb drum that fills, washes, rinses and spins on its own, with a built-in drain pump so it can push water up into a sink. The twin tubs are the other side of the fork, and they suit a tight budget, a tight space or an RV where you fill by hose or bucket and move the load by hand.

Two facts decide your satisfaction more than any spec. Spin-dry is not drying: clothes come out damp and need a rack. And the headline pound figure on a twin tub is wash capacity plus spin capacity added together, so a 20 lb twin tub washes 12 lb.

Twin tub or fully automatic, what changes for you

A twin tub has two separate tubs side by side: you fill the wash tub by hose or bucket, set a timer of up to 15 minutes, drain it, then lift the wet load by hand into the spin tub for up to 5 minutes. A fully automatic has one drum that fills, washes, rinses and spins on a program, and you walk away.

The consequence is time spent per load. A twin tub cannot be left alone: it does not stop filling by itself, so you stand by it while the water runs, and you are there again for the transfer. A fully automatic can run while you cook or work, as long as the tap stays on.

Floor space splits the other way. A twin tub is a wide, low box, roughly two tubs across, which suits a bathroom floor or a corner of a kitchen. A fully automatic is a single narrow column, taller than it is wide, which suits a gap beside a counter. The twin tub's spinner also runs faster, up to 1350 RPM on the twin tubs here against the gentler spin of a fully automatic, so clothes come out drier but in smaller batches.

The lbs on the box, wash capacity and spin capacity

Twin tubs quote wash capacity plus spin capacity added together. A 20 lb twin tub is 12 lbs of washing and 8 lbs of spinning; a 13 lb twin tub is 8 lbs of washing and 5 lbs of spinning. Fully automatic models quote a single drum capacity instead. So a 12 lb fully automatic and a 20 lb twin tub are not 8 lbs apart in what they actually wash.

Translate pounds into objects. A drum of roughly 1.0 to 1.3 cu ft holds about a set of sheets, or a few bath towels, or several pairs of jeans. It does not hold a comforter. A portable load is a fraction of a full-size load, so a household that runs two full-size loads a week will run several portable loads to cover the same laundry.

Check the wash figure, not the headline, when you compare two twin tubs. The spin figure tells you how much you can dry at once, and it is usually about half the wash figure, which is why a big wash load often becomes two spin batches.

Gravity drain or drain pump, the spec that decides where it sits

A gravity-drain machine has to sit higher than, or level with, its drain, and the hose has to fall to a sink, a tub or a floor drain. A machine with a built-in drain pump can push water uphill into a sink above it or across a room, which opens up a closet, a counter or a bathroom corner that a gravity drain rules out.

Check the drain type before anything else, because it decides whether the machine fits your space at all. Some twin tubs ship with a pump and some do not, and the pump is the difference between a spot that works and one that floods the floor.

Whatever the drain type, secure the end of the drain hose so it cannot slip out of the sink while the pump runs. A clamp or a piece of string around the faucet takes a minute and prevents the most common mess.

Hookup reality, faucet, adapter and the tap you leave running

These machines take a single inlet hose to a kitchen or bathroom faucet. You set hot and cold at the tap, not on the machine, so the wash temperature is whatever comes out of the faucet. Keep it under about 122 °F (50 °C).

Faucet adapters are often needed, and pull-out spray faucets generally will not work. On a fully automatic you leave the tap on for the whole cycle, because turning it off mid-cycle starves the rinse and the machine errors out. On a twin tub you fill and then shut the tap, because it will not stop filling on its own.

  • a faucet adapter set that matches your tap thread
  • a hose clamp or string to hold the drain hose in the sink
  • an extension cord if the power cord will not reach an outlet
  • a level surface, checked with the adjustable feet

Spin-dry is not a dryer, what 80 to 90 percent dry means

The spin tub and the spin cycle extract water. They do not dry. Clothes come out damp and need a rack, a line or airing, and towels and heavy cotton take longest while lighter items finish overnight indoors.

The twin tub's high-speed spinner gets closer to dry than the fully automatic's spin, and the EP21684 is rated at 80% to 90% drying. That still means the clothes need air. No machine in this lineup heats air to dry laundry; one model's air dry program moves air, it does not warm it.

Plan drying space and time into the decision. A bathroom with a rack and a window, or a corner with a folding rack, is part of the setup, not an afterthought.

Space, weight and moving it, what portable really means

Portable splits into two very different things. The small twin tubs and the mini semi-automatic are light enough, roughly 11 to 30 lbs, to lift, stow and move between rooms or into an RV. The fully automatic models run from about 37 to 57 lbs and are portable in the sense of fitting through a doorway and rolling on a dolly, not carrying to the closet.

  • the footprint, width and depth, against the floor space you have
  • the height with the lid open, not just closed
  • the distance to the faucet, against the inlet hose length
  • whether the machine has to be stowed between uses

A machine around 50 lbs wants a permanent spot. A machine around 11 to 30 lbs can live in a closet and come out on laundry day.

Leaks, error codes and the parts you can actually get

The recurring weak points on this type of machine are the hose coupler at the faucet, the lid seal and the drain pump. A loose clamp or an unlevel unit causes most leak reports, so check the coupler first, then the level, then the drain hose connection.

On fully automatic models, a common error pattern is a lid or lid-lever fault that clears when the lid is seated properly. A drain hose that backs up usually means a kink in the hose or a clogged pump filter.

Parts are the weak spot. Some models here state a warranty of a couple of months, others state none, and consumables like belts and manuals are not always easy to source. Buy where the return window is real, and keep the box for the first weeks so a return is simple.

Our picks by budget

The GX24977-PE is our budget pick because it weighs 11 lbs and washes 5.5 lbs at a time, so it buys a working washer for one person or a dorm without asking for floor space or a permanent spot.

The EP22761 is our mid-range pick because it is a fully automatic with a bundled drying function, at 8 lbs and 37.4 lbs, so it buys walk-away convenience and a built-in drain pump in a compact footprint.

The GT24896GR-WH is our premium pick because it is a fully automatic at 11 lbs with 8 programs and 10 water levels, so it buys a big drum and plenty of settings for a machine that stays put.

Which Giantex portable washing machine for which buyer

The right machine depends less on the brand than on where it will sit, whether you can leave a tap running and how much you are willing to handle the load by hand.

Our verdict on the Giantex portable washing machines

Fully automatic for most people who want convenience and have a drain within reach; twin tub for budget, space and off-grid setups. The Giantex EP23113 is the pick for most buyers, with a 12 lb drum, 10 programs and a built-in drain pump. The EP21684 twin tub is the value pick for anyone who will do the manual transfer and wants a 1350 RPM spinner.

Two deal-breakers decide whether you will be happy: spin-dry is not drying, so plan a rack, and the pound figure on a twin tub is wash plus spin, so read the wash number. Check drain type and faucet first, then pick the drum size for your weekly load count.

Detailed model analysis

A twin tub and a fully automatic solve the same problem in opposite ways, and the difference shows up in how much of your evening the machine takes.

Giantex EP23113 portable washing machine

The Giantex EP23113 portable washer runs a whole load by itself. You set it, walk away, and it fills, washes and spins on its own.

It holds 12 lb of laundry in a 1.34 cu ft stainless steel drum. That beats the 11 lb of the Giantex GT24896GR-WH portable washer.

You get 10 programs and 8 water levels, so a small shirt load does not need a full tub. Push buttons and an LED display keep the controls simple.

A drain pump, a drain hose and a drain shower are included. It is rated at 55 dB, worth knowing if the washer sits near a bedroom.

It stands 33.6 in high, so measure your closet or bathroom corner first. It is top load only and freestanding.

It suits renters with only a bathroom, closet or corner to spare who want a hands-off washer.

  • Brand: Giantex
  • Capacity: 1.34 cu ft
  • Loading type: Top load
  • Dimensions: 19.7 in deep, 19.8 in wide and 33.6 in high
  • Programs: 10
  • Noise level: 55 dB

Giantex EP21684 twin tub washer

The Giantex EP21684 is a twin tub washer: one tub washes and a separate tub spins. You move the load by hand between them, so it is semi-automatic rather than fully automatic.

It lists 20 lb, but that adds a 12 lb wash tub to an 8 lb spin tub. A single wash load is 12 lb.

Knobs set the timers, up to 15 minutes for a wash and 5 minutes for a spin per load. You can pick normal or soft for the fabric. Cycle options are Drain, Rinse and Spin.

It runs on 120 V and spins at up to 1350 rpm, leaving clothes 80% to 90% dry, so you still hang them up afterward. Two water inlets let you place the hose on either side.

It weighs 28 lb, which helps when you carry it to a closet for storage. The tubs detach for cleaning.

This top load, freestanding washer is rated for residential use. The limits: you stand by to move clothes, and the display is analog only. It suits campers and closet-storage users who accept moving loads by hand.

  • Brand: Giantex
  • Capacity: 20 lb
  • Dimensions: 15 in deep, 24.8 in wide and 28.5 in high
  • Weight: 28 lb
  • Voltage: 120 V
  • Max spin speed: 1350 rpm

Giantex GT24896GR-WH portable washer

The Giantex GT24896GR-WH is a fully automatic top loader with a 1.5 cu ft stainless steel drum. It takes 11 lb per load, and you start it and leave.

Eight programs and 10 water levels let you match the water to the load. Push buttons run it, and a spin barrel handles rinsing and drying. Cycle options are Normal, Rinse and Spin.

The body measures 19 in deep and 19 in wide, so it fits a square spot. It runs on 120 V and is freestanding, rated for residential use.

It weighs 57.5 lb, far more than the Giantex GX24640US-PE portable washer at 43.5 lb. Moving it between a closet and a faucet takes more effort.

Its 11 lb load is one pound under the Giantex EP23113 portable washer, even though its drum is bigger, at 1.5 cu ft against 1.34 cu ft.

It works best where it stays put near the faucet. It suits apartment and dorm dwellers short on floor space who want eight programs and ten water levels in a 19 in wide body.

  • Brand: Giantex
  • Capacity: 1.5 cu ft
  • Voltage: 120 V
  • Dimensions: 19 in deep, 19 in wide and 33 in high
  • Weight: 57.5 lb
  • Programs: 8

Giantex GX24640US-PE portable washer

The Giantex GX24640US-PE is a fully automatic top loader with a 1.04 cu ft stainless steel drum and an 8.8 lb load. It handles the wash and the spin on its own.

Ten programs and an LED display come with push button controls. You can adjust the water amount, the mode and the time, so you are not stuck with one preset.

A built-in drain pump pushes water out through the drain hose, and a drain shower is included. A child lock keeps the cycle from being interrupted while it runs.

Side handles make carrying easier, and it weighs 43.5 lb. It runs on 120 V and is made for dorms, apartments, condos, motor homes, RVs and camping spots.

Limits: the cycle options are only Drain and Spin, the load is only 8.8 lb, and the warranty is just 2 months. Spinning removes water but is not heat drying, so plan a rack.

It suits dorm and RV dwellers who want walk-away washing in a small body.

  • Brand: Giantex
  • Capacity: 1.04 cu ft
  • Dimensions: 18 in deep, 18.5 in wide and 31 in high
  • Weight: 43.5 lb
  • Voltage: 120 V
  • Wash programs: 10

Giantex EP22761 washer dryer combo

The Giantex EP22761 is a fully automatic top loader built for tight spots, measuring 17 in deep and 17 in wide. It weighs 37.4 lb and is freestanding.

It takes up to 8 lb of laundry, so small and medium loads fit, while bigger ones need splitting. Three water levels match the load: about 4.2 gal (16 L), 6.1 gal (23 L) or 7.9 gal (30 L).

A built-in aluminum drain pump and a drainage tube get the water out. A detergent dispenser is built in. It offers 6 programs, with Drain, Rinse and Spin options, runs on 110 V and is rated at 60 dB.

Despite the combo name, it has no heated drying function. The spin cycle wrings out water, but clothes still need a rack or line afterward.

The display is analog, so there is no screen. The body mixes aluminum, polypropylene and stainless steel. Remove the black plastic piece under the base before first use.

It suits small-space renters in apartments, dorms and RVs who want a fully automatic washer and will dry on a rack.

  • Brand: Giantex
  • Capacity: 8 lb
  • Voltage: 110 V
  • Dimensions: 17 in deep, 17 in wide and 29.5 in high
  • Weight: 37.4 lb
  • Loading type: Top load

Giantex EP23936PI portable washer

The Giantex EP23936PI portable washer is a fully automatic washer and spin dryer built narrow.

Its honeycomb-shaped stainless steel tub takes 7.7 lb per load. The spin runs at up to 1300 rpm, which pulls water from the clothes before you hang them.

It has 6 washing cycles and 1 drying cycle, and the drying cycle is a spin, not heat. Push buttons run it, and a built-in barrel light lets you see inside.

A built-in drain pump, a drain hose and an inlet hose come in the box, along with a manual. It runs on 120 V.

It is shallower and narrower than every other fully automatic washer in this ranking. Once you set the program you can walk away, so it frees your time during the wash.

Compare it with the Giantex GX24640US-PE portable washer, which takes 8.8 lb: you give up some capacity and some width.

Limits: the cycle options are only Drain and Spin, and the dispenser takes detergent only. Its 7.7 lb load is small, so big loads need splitting.

It suits apartment and RV owners short on width who want a 1300 rpm spin.

  • Brand: Giantex
  • Capacity: 7.7 lb
  • Voltage: 120 V
  • Max spin speed: 1300 rpm
  • Dimensions: 16 in deep, 16.5 in wide and 29.5 in high
  • Drum material: Stainless steel

Giantex GX11059US-GR-PF portable washing machine

The Giantex GX11059US-GR-PF is a semi-automatic twin tub: one tub washes, the other spins, and you move the clothes between them.

The 20 lb figure adds a 12 lb wash tub to an 8 lb spin tub, so one wash load is 12 lb. Knobs set a 15 minute wash timer and a 5 minute spin timer.

A 260 W motor handles washing and a 140 W motor handles spinning. It runs on 110 to 120 V and offers Wash, Spin and Drain. A built-in drain pump sits behind the 39.5 in drain hose.

Water inlets sit on both sides, with a 48 in inlet hose. A safety cover, a detachable lint filter, a carry handle and a cable holder come with it.

It weighs 30 lb and measures 25 in long, 15.5 in wide and 29 in high. The drum is plastic, and the body is polypropylene.

The main limit is that you stand by to move clothes, and only three cycle options exist. It suits households doing big manual loads at home, in a dorm or an RV.

  • Brand: Giantex
  • Total capacity: 20 lb
  • Wash capacity: 12 lb
  • Spin capacity: 8 lb
  • Weight: 30 lb
  • Loading type: Top load

Giantex GX24977-PE portable washer

The Giantex GX24977-PE portable washer is the smallest of the ten, at just 14 in deep. It is semi-automatic, so you move clothes by hand.

It washes 5.5 lb at a time, the smallest load in the ranking. A 170 W motor swirls the clothes, and the stainless steel drum also spins.

It weighs 11 lb, so you can carry it to a closet between uses.

A knob sets the single standard cycle, and the options are Drain and Spin. It runs on 110 V, and a drain hose and a manual are included. Cycle choice is simple: wash, drain, spin.

It comes with a 6 month warranty, versus 2 months on the Giantex GX24640US-PE portable washer. Its plastic body is made for apartments, dorms, RVs and homes.

Next to the Giantex EP23936PI portable washer at 7.7 lb, it holds less per load.

Limits: 5.5 lb is a very small load, and you must stand by to move clothes. Spinning pulls water out but does not dry, so plan a rack. It is top load and freestanding.

It suits small dorm rooms that stash the machine between uses and wash 5.5 lb at a time.

  • Brand: Giantex
  • Washing capacity: 5.5 lb
  • Voltage: 110 V
  • Dimensions: 14 in deep, 13.5 in wide and 20 in high
  • Weight: 11 lb
  • Type: Semi-automatic, top load

Giantex EP21684+EP23597 washer dryer set

The Giantex EP21684+EP23597 set pairs a twin tub washer with a ventless heated clothes dryer. It suits twin-tub fans who cannot air-dry indoors and want warm air drying on a folding rack.

The washer holds 11 lb in the wash tub and 6.6 lb in the spin tub, listed as 17.6 lb together. A 300 W motor washes and a 110 W motor spins.

The washer is manual, with knobs. It measures 15 in deep and 28.5 in high and weighs 29.3 lb. The inlet pipe is 44.5 in long and the drain pipe 20.5 in.

The electric dryer is rated at 900 W and takes up to 22 lb of clothes. A dial sets up to 180 minutes of warm air.

A folding rack and a clothes cover come with it. The rack also serves as a hanger and minimizes wrinkles. Washer and dryer ship in two separate packages.

The main limit is that the washer needs hand moving between tubs. Its gravity drainage tube lets dirty water run out.

  • Brand: Giantex
  • Capacity: 17.6 lb
  • Voltage: 120 V
  • Loading type: Top load
  • Dimensions: 15 in deep, 24.8 in wide and 28.5 in high
  • Weight: 29.3 lb

Giantex GX11188US-WH-PF portable washing machine

The Giantex GX11188US-WH-PF is a fully automatic portable washer for people who schedule. A delay start of 2 to 24 hours starts the wash when you choose.

Touch controls and an LED display run 8 preset programs: normal, spin only, wash only, big projects, fast wash, soft wash, air dry and water recycle. Six water levels adjust the fill.

It takes 7.7 lb per load in a stainless steel honeycomb tub. Wash power is 280 W and spin power 190 W. Noise is rated at no more than 68 dB.

It measures 17.5 in deep, 17.5 in wide and 30.5 in high, and weighs 40.5 lb. Recessed handles help carrying.

A 5 ft inlet hose with a quick-connect adapter fits most faucets, but the original aerator must come off first. A child lock, drain pump and removable lint filter are included.

Limits: no warranty is offered, and the 7.7 lb load is small, so big loads need splitting. It suits schedulers who leave a faucet connected.

  • Brand: Giantex
  • Capacity: 7.7 lb
  • Dimensions: 17.5 in deep, 17.5 in wide and 30.5 in high
  • Weight: 40.5 lb
  • Wash cycles: 8
  • Drum material: Stainless steel

Frequently asked questions

Most disappointments with a portable washer come from a hookup that does not fit, a load that is too big or an expectation that the spin cycle dries clothes.

Twin tub or fully automatic, which should I buy?

Pick fully automatic if you want to start a cycle and walk away and you have a faucet you can leave on. Pick a twin tub if you want to spend less, need the machine to be light enough to stow, or wash where there is no running tap and you fill by bucket.

Does a Giantex portable washer actually dry clothes?

No. The spin cycle pulls water out and leaves clothes damp. A twin tub's fast spinner gets closer to dry than a fully automatic's spin, but every load still needs a rack, a line or airing before it goes in a drawer.

Will the faucet adapter fit my sink?

Often not out of the box. Check your faucet thread and buy an adapter set that matches it, and skip pull-out spray faucets, which generally will not take a hose connection.

Do I leave the water running during the cycle?

On a fully automatic, yes, for the whole cycle, because the rinse needs water. On a twin tub, no: you fill the tub, then shut the tap before the wash timer runs down, and you come back for the transfer to the spin tub.

Can it wash jeans, sheets or a comforter?

Jeans and a set of sheets fit in a small load. A comforter does not: plan on at least 3.5 cu ft of drum for a queen comforter, and a portable machine tops out well under that, so bedding for a family needs a full-size machine.

Why does my machine leak, and what do I check first?

Start at the hose coupler where the inlet meets the faucet, then check that the machine is level, then look at the drain hose connection. Tighten the coupler, level the feet and reseat the drain hose, and most drips stop within a load or two.
